Privacy Policy

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Valstrong Plumbing Inc ("Valstrong," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information in connection with our residential plumbing services and the valstrongplumbing.com website (the "Site"). We are a California-licensed plumbing contractor (CSLB #1120682, C-36) serving San Diego County. This Policy applies to information we collect online and offline from individual consumers and household contacts. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Site and do not provide personal information.

Personal Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, information collected automatically, and information from service providers.

  • Information you provide. We may collect your name, phone number, email address, service address, preferred contact method, details about your plumbing issue, project photographs or videos you upload or send, payment method details processed by our payment processor, feedback, and communications. If you call or text us, we may collect your phone number, call/text content, and time/date metadata. If you apply for employment, we may collect application materials you submit. Please do not provide sensitive personal information not needed for plumbing services.
  • Information collected automatically. When you use the Site, we and our analytics providers may collect device and usage data such as IP address, device identifiers, browser type, pages or screens viewed, links clicked, approximate location derived from IP, and referring/exit pages. We use cookies and similar technologies to provide and improve the Site and to measure interest in our services. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
  • Information from service providers. We may receive limited personal information from scheduling tools, customer relationship management systems, payment processors, analytics providers, and communications vendors that support our business operations.

How We Use Personal Information

  • Provide, schedule, deliver, and bill for plumbing services and communicate about your requests, appointments, estimates, invoices, and service updates.
  • Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Site, our services, and customer support.
  • Send transactional communications (e.g., appointment confirmations, service updates, safety notices) and, with appropriate consent where required, send marketing communications about promotions, service offerings, or surveys. You can opt out of marketing communications at any time.
  • Comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms, prevent fraud or misuse, and protect our rights, customers, and the public.
  • De-identify or aggregate information for internal analytics and business reporting.

How We Disclose Personal Information

We do not sell personal information. We disclose personal information as follows:

  • Service providers. We share personal information with vendors that perform services on our behalf — including web hosting and database (Vercel, Neon), payment processing (Stripe), email delivery (Resend), website analytics (Google Analytics, loaded only with your consent), heatmaps and session replay (Microsoft Clarity, loaded only with your consent), AI chat processing (Anthropic PBC), error monitoring (Sentry — diagnostic data about technical errors, which may include a replay of your interaction with the affected page with typed text masked), cookieless aggregate analytics and performance measurement (Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights), and bot/security protection (Cloudflare). These service providers are permitted to use personal information only to provide services to us.
  • Business transfers. If we explore or complete a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, personal information may be disclosed as part of that transaction subject to customary confidentiality protections.
  • Legal, safety, and compliance. We may disclose personal information to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or lawful request; to enforce our agreements and policies; and to protect the rights, property, or safety of Valstrong, our customers, or others.
  • With your direction. We may disclose personal information with your consent or at your direction, such as when coordinating with insurers, home warranty providers, property managers, or other contractors you identify.

Cookies and Online Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate and improve the Site, remember your preferences, and analyze traffic. Non-essential analytics — Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity (heatmaps and session replay, with on-screen text and form fields masked) — load only after you opt in through our cookie banner; choosing "Essential only" means none of them load. We do not use advertising or cross-site behavioral-tracking cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie Preferenceslink in the footer, which also serves as your "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" control. Your browser may also allow you to block or delete cookies; if you do, some Site features may not function properly. For EU/UK visitors, where required, we will seek consent for non-essential cookies via the banner and will honor your choices.

AI Chat Assistant

Our website includes an AI-powered chat assistant, provided by Anthropic PBC (Claude) and run on our behalf, that helps triage inquiries and collect your contact details so we can follow up. It is clearly labeled as AI — not a human. Your chat messages and any contact details you provide are sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response; Anthropic does not train on this data under our commercial agreement. If the chat produces a lead, we store your name, contact info, and issue summary so we can follow up; otherwise messages are not retained beyond the API call. AI responses can be inaccurate and are not a substitute for an on-site assessment. You are not required to use the chat — you can reach us by phone or text at (619) 977-2772 or email [email protected].

Your Choices

  • Marketing emails. Unsubscribe using the "unsubscribe" link in any marketing message. We may still send transactional or service-related emails.
  • Text messages. For marketing texts, reply STOP to opt out, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Transactional texts related to your service request may still be sent as permitted by law.
  • Cookies. Manage cookies in your browser settings and, where offered, through our Cookie Preferences control.
  • Access, correction, and deletion. You may request access to or correction of your personal information, or ask that we delete it, by contacting us as described below. We will respond in accordance with applicable law and our records-retention obligations.

California Privacy Notice (CCPA/CPRA)

  • Applicability. Some or all of the rights described below apply only if and when Valstrong meets the definition of a "business" under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, "CCPA/CPRA"). If we do not meet that definition, we will nonetheless endeavor to honor reasonable requests on a voluntary basis, without waiving any rights.
  • Categories of personal information. In the preceding 12 months we have collected: identifiers (name, email, phone, IP address); customer records (service address, payment-related information processed by our payment processor); commercial information (services purchased or considered); internet or network activity (browsing data on our Site); geolocation data (derived from IP); professional or employment information if you apply for a job; and inferences we may draw to improve services. We do not collect or process sensitive personal information for the purpose of inferring characteristics.
  • Disclosure for business purposes. We disclose the categories above to service providers and contractors for business purposes such as providing services, processing transactions, analytics, security, and website operations. We do not "sell" personal information and do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. If our practices change, we will update this Policy.
  • Your rights. Subject to exceptions and verification, California residents may have the right to: know/access personal information; delete personal information; correct inaccurate personal information; receive information about our data practices; and not be discriminated against for exercising rights. You may also opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" by contacting us; at present, we do not engage in such activities.
  • Verification and authorized agents. We take reasonable steps to verify your identity before responding. Authorized agents must provide proof of authorization and the requester's identity.
  • Retention. We retain personal information as long as reasonably necessary to provide services, manage our business, meet legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain appropriate records — generally up to seven (7) years for billing, tax, and contract records; up to approximately 14 months for website analytics; and until you unsubscribe for email-marketing records — unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us to request deletion.

Security

We implement reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure database storage, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International Visitors; Data Transfers

We are based in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. For visitors from the EU/UK, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms when engaging service providers that process EU/UK personal data, as applicable, with safeguards commensurate with our role as a small service provider.

Do Not Track

Your browser may transmit "Do Not Track" signals. Our Site does not respond to such signals. We will update this Policy if our practices change.

Third-Party Links and Features

The Site may contain links to third-party websites or services and may include third-party features. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date indicates the effective date of the current version. Material changes will be posted on the Site.
